Whether you’re looking for professional development for your team, a refresher course, another perspective, or all of the above, Watermark invites you to join the Watermark Engage “Assessment Basics Webinar Series†starting on February 20 and leading up to their annual conference. This webinar is the third in the series.
When people talk about assessment, they are often talking about measurement. Measurement is an absolutely critical component to the assessment process. The achievement of outcomes cannot be reported if the measurement tools are inappropriate. This webinar will discuss the terms “direct†and “indirect†as they apply to types of evidence or measures created to collect data on the achievement of outcomes. (Spoiler alert: the “direct-ness†of a measure is determined by its relationship to the outcome.) Direct measures are generally accepted as “better†for outcomes assessment, however, they are not always possible. Indirect measures will also be discussed as a means to provide additional support to outcomes measurement.
Learning Outcomes:
- Explain the properties of direct and indirect measures
- Discuss the benefits of direct versus indirect measures
- Identify the pros and cons of specific measurement tools
- Select measurement tools for specific outcomes
