NILOA at Ten: A Retrospective

October 2018

In this 10th year of the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA), we pause to look upon our origins – where we came from and where we have been, as we look to the future of where we are going. In this report, George and Stan write about the work that has transpired and accomplishments in assessment in the past ten years, but also the work that remains to be done. There are still questions of the value and worth of higher education, of the learning that students achieve in their time with us, and how we go about documenting and using evidence of that learning to improve our practices and help all students succeed. While this report provides an overview of how much we have accomplished, we aren’t done yet, and we invite you to be a part of the dialogue as we move into the future.
